Houses of the Year: The best single-family dwellings
DAM Deutsches Architekturmuseum Schaumainkai 43, Frankfurt am Main, Hessen, DeutschlandStarting on October 6, the winners of this year’s competition Houses of the Year will be presented; Callwey Verlag has awarded the prize together with the DAM, Informationszentrum Beton and the media partners Baumeister, Atriu/Ideales Heim, n-tv and Neue Zürcher Zeitung. Prize money of EUR 10,000 is attached to the first prize, while other winners receive an award only. The results will be published in the book “Houses of the Year” and presented in the exhibition in DAM. Criteria for the Jury in making a selection were a creative approach to the rural or urban environment, the spatial design of a private living space, the intelligent interplay between aesthetics, material and construction — and, not least of all, realizing the task of designing a detached house in a contemporary manner.

The DAM would like to thank the Society of Friends of the DAM for its generous support of the prize. Wir laden Kinder dazu ein, unsere Ausstellungsfläche im Erdgeschoss gemeinsam in eine Kinderstadt zu verwandeln. Mit Wegen aus Stoff, Häusern aus Pappe, Rauch aus Watte und Bäumen aus Holz. Für sich und trotzdem gemeinsam — so entsteht eine Stadt aus Kinderträumen!

The exhibition shows the winner, the finalists and the nominees comprehen-sively using models, films, photos, drawings and texts. The International Highrise Award is awarded by Deutsches Architekturmuseum (DAM), DekaBank and the City of Frankfurt/Main.
