The presentation of entries to the 2022 DAM Prize showcases current architecture from Germany and notable projects by German architecture practices in other countries. From a longlist of over 100 buildings completed between fall 2019 and spring 2021, for the show a jury has selected 23 building ensembles in Germany and three examples abroad. Residential buildings, new forms of living, innovative working worlds, public spaces designed for people – these are all important architectural tasks and the exhibition shows exemplary contemporary architectural solutions for each of them. The bandwidth ranges from different office worlds of large corporations via highly imaginative new buildings and conversions, the reality check for
research projects, buildings for culture and education through to impressive examples for making unused space more attractive both in a small community and in a large city.

The jury nominated four of the buildings as finalists for the DAM Preis 2022, then inspected the buildings themselves and ultimately chose the winning project. This project will be announced at the award ceremony on January 28, 2022. In 2022, the prize will be awarded by the Deutsches Architektur-
museum (DAM) for the sixth time in close cooperation with our partner JUNG.

An essay and an interview on current topics complement the descriptions: The number of innovative office buildings realized recently is remarkable. Falk Jaeger reflects on how the office has changed over the last few decades and up to the present day, and what can make the office more attractive for people working from home. The built environment needs to be greener: Ingenhoven architects are very committed to introducing urban green on a
large scale – Martin Reuter explains in an interview with Hilde Strobl what conditions this requires – in an international context, too.

The German Architecture Annual 2022 can be obtained from bookstores or from the DAM museum shop. Members of the Society of Friends of the DAM receive the annual free of charge at the DAM museum shop.
