DAM Auditorium
Admission: 7 euros

To mark the 45th anniversary of the city partnership, a four-part event series on the topic of urban transformation in a metropolitan context is taking place. How can vibrant neighborhoods, diverse urban districts and affordable housing be created and sustained?

Each evening will host, experts from both cities. They will present project examples and discuss architectural solutions, community-based models, and innovative financing strategies.

Urban Kibbutz – Affordable Housing is a series of four evenings at the ‘Liebling Salon’ and the Deutsches Architektur Museum (DAM) – and online. The series was launched to stimulate discussions about the current era of rapid change. The focus is on addressing current challenges in the field of urban housing construction and the development of vibrant urban neighborhoods. The next two events will be announced soon.

JUNE 3, 2026 Architecture and Planning

How do we plan and build affordable, sustainable, and community-oriented housing? What will the city of tomorrow look like, and what does it take to achieve this in terms of architecture and urban planning? Three exciting projects will be presented. They demonstrate that the future is already being built today: with Europe’s tallest wooden high-rise, a new housing project that puts cluster living into practice and a young cooperatives in Frankfurt such as DachGeno RheinMain.

We invite you to learn about the projects and enrich the discussion with your questions.

Guest:

Marlene Hübel from Bolthauser Architekten
Melanie Schreiber from DachGeno RheinMain eG
Antonia Radetz from ÖkoGeno SWH eG
