More is Now! New Czech Architecture + Villa Tugendhat Restoration
September 19, 2026 – January 17, 2027 >> 3rd Floor
Presented on the occasion of the Frankfurt Book Fair 2026, with the Czech Republic as the Guest of Honour, the contemporary Czech architecture exhibition at the Deutsches Architekturmuseum showcases innovative projects by young architects from the so-called millennial generation. It offers a unique opportunity to introduce the relatively unknown young Czech architectural scene to the German public and strengthen professional and cultural relations. It builds upon the legacy of the Villa Tugendhat in Brno, 1929, designed by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe and Lilly Reich in their forties, as an iconic building of modernism. The exhibition includes about 30 award-winning architectural projects, mainly located in regions outside of Prague, thereby encouraging a multi-local approach to exploring the Czech Republic. The exhibition is curated by Helena Huber-Doudová from the National Gallery Prague.
The project aims to highlight and celebrate contemporary Czech architecture in Germany and historic German architecture in Czechia. Striving for international visibility and outreach, it connects Czech, German, and international partners. It is planned to present the project as a touring exhibition in the network of Czech Centres.
The More is Now! project is co-organised by the National Gallery Prague and Deutsches Architekturmuseum DAM and is supported by the Deutsch-Tschechischer Zukunftsfonds / Česko-německý fond budoucnosti.
