Rethinking High-RisesAufmachen! Rethinking High-Rises
17 October 2026 – 17 January 2027
Exhibition opening: Friday 16 October 2026, 7 pm
Ground Floor, Deutsches Architekturmuseum (DAM), Frankfurt
Frankfurt’s skyline stands for progress and transformation. But what happens when high-rises lose their original purpose? The exhibition “Aufmachen! Rethinking High-Rises” reveals the potential of existing towers as sustainable resources, vibrant places and integral parts of the city of tomorrow. Repositioning means more than just refurbishment: it preserves existing structures, enables new multifunctional uses, strengthens nature-based solutions for climate resilience, and creates public spaces that connect high-rises more closely with their surroundings. Using building typologies from Frankfurt and Offenbach, the exhibition invites visitors to envisage a more dynamic, diverse and forward-looking urban landscape.
