Böhm 100: The Concrete Cathedral of Neviges
DAM Deutsches Architekturmuseum Schaumainkai 43, Frankfurt am MainGottfried Böhms 100th birthday is on January 23, 2020. We intend to celebrate it: with an exhibition devoted to the pilgrimage church in Neviges, one of his most important designs. Commissioned by Franciscan monks and the second largest church in the Archdiocese of Cologne, a concrete cathedral was built between 1963 and 1968.
Houses of the Year: The best single-family dwellings
DAM Deutsches Architekturmuseum Schaumainkai 43, Frankfurt am MainStarting on October 6, the winners of this year’s competition Houses of the Year will be presented; Callwey Verlag has awarded the prize together with the DAM, Informationszentrum Beton and the media partners Baumeister, Atriu/Ideales Heim, n-tv and Neue Zürcher Zeitung. Prize money of EUR 10,000 is attached to the first prize, while other winners receive an award only. The results will be published in the book “Houses of the Year” and presented in the exhibition in DAM. Criteria for the Jury in making a selection were a creative approach to the rural or urban environment, the spatial design of a private living space, the intelligent interplay between aesthetics, material and construction — and, not least of all, realizing the task of designing a detached house in a contemporary manner.
