Die Neue Heimat war der größte und bedeutendste nicht-staatliche Wohnungsbaukonzern im Europa der Nachkriegszeit. In einem Zeitraum von über dreißig Jahren hat das Gewerkschaftsunternehmen mehr als 400.000 Wohnungen geplant und ausgeführt. Die Projekte der Neuen Heimat sind sowohl Ergebnis eines einzigartigen Zusammenspiels von wirtschaftlichen Interessen und Politik, als auch Ausdruck und Spiegelbild der bundesdeutschen Sozialgeschichte. 
Increasingly, attention is being paid to rural regions as a center of life. They are places to live and work. Architecture can be an expression of valuing something; it can, in the best cases, generate a sense of confidence. For this reason, it is worthwhile to commit not just to many small construction tasks but also to entire village cores. 
Die Frankfurter Paulskirche gilt als eines der wichtigsten Demokratiedenkmale Deutschlands. 
Since 2007, the DAM Prize for Architecture has been awarded annually to outstanding buildings in Germany. In 2021, the prize will be awarded by the German Architecture Museum (DAM) for the fifth time – in close cooperation with JUNG as a cooperation partner – in a staggered jury procedure.

20. docomomo Deutschland Tagung – FFM 2023 ARCHITEKTUR DER MODERNE,POLITIK-GESELLSCHAFT- WOHNUNGSBAU
The annual conference of Docomomo Germany e.V. 2023 will take place in Frankfurt am Main in cooperation with the ernst-may-society e.V., the German Architecture Museum (DAM) and the City of Frankfurt. With the opening in Frankfurt‘s Paulskirche, a special conference venue is once again available. 
The international online debate event series “Context, Contrast, Continuity – Heritage Conservation and Urban Development” focuses on how the needs of conservation as well as development requirements can be managed in the urban context. How can historically developed urban fabrics/structures or singular buildings withstand the pressure for change from e.g. the real estate industry or housing demands? |
